Bloggers Made Me Buy: Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 6.

I love Maybelline. I have always loved Maybelline and in the past year the amazing products that they have released, they have a lot of people falling for them. This particular product, I actually saw a review of it on YouTube and the channel was DelhiFashionBlogger. She is damn cute and the other product that she had reviewed and that I really loved was the Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush (I still didn't buy the third. I am back on a spending ban.). So when I saw her talk about this small cute fit-in-the-palm-of-your-hand lip polish I had to have it (I wasn't on a spending ban in Jan.. Oooh that rhymes.)

So if you had read my First Impressions post (click here if you haven't read it), you will know that I have totally fallen for this product.

The name Lip Polish is so unique. At first I thought it was just a gloss. Then I read that it is a balm, lipstick and polish in one. Who says no to 3 products in one! Such a time saver in the morning.
The colour looks more towards a purplish magenta in the tube but when applied it most certainly looks more pink magenta. Being a dark bold colour there is no problem in terms of covering pigmented lips. The colour doesn't need two, three layers. Just one application will give you a beautiful colour.

It tingles a bit when you put it on, maybe that is the lip balm effect. My lips feel very smooth and hydrated. Of course I still wear a balm under this, but that's because I have lips that are quite dry.
The colour is intense and the gloss is simply like a diamond shine. The shine reminds me of the kind of shine that Maybelline High Shine glosses give.
The applicator is a leaf shaped one and it is simply so cute!! The application is very smooth.

The gloss does fade after a while. If you eat and drink then it fades off faster but otherwise it lasts for atleast 3 hours.
Even after the gloss fades, the colour remains like a beautiful stain. Now I don't know whether all the colours in this range will fade to leave a stain but this one leaves a pretty pink stain. This stays on for about 6 hours totally. You can touch it up but I kinda like the stained look.
The packaging. Oh wow. Small with a see through tube which has a lipstick kind of look. A silver cap and a beautiful small head applicator that gives precise application.

Ok I have spoken a lot. So here is a summary for any people to lazy to read my long description.

Costs: 450 INR.

What I like about this product:

  • Simple packaging
  • Useful applicator that helps in precise application.
  • As is it a balm, lipstick and polish in one, it really does save time in the morning. One swipe and I am good to go.
  • Beautiful colour that goes on opaque and doesn't need more than one application.
  • Has a good staying power of about 4-6 hours.
  • Not gritty. Very smooth and hydrating.
  • There are some very nice colours in this range. Like Glam 13 is a very everyday, any occasion type of colour (I bought this as a birthday gift my friend.) There are some bright pops of colour that will suit for summer '14 and of course some bold colours like Glam 6 which is perfect for evening wear.

What I don't like about this product:

  • So I know most people may not find 450 expensive, but looking at the general price range that Maybelline has, I feel this is slightly higher. Other than that I don't have anything else that I don't like about this product.
Tip: When I don't want a very dark colour, I just dab a little on the centre and use my fingers to smooth it over the lips. It gives a very toned down colour that is still quite pretty..

Here are some different looks in which I have used the Lip Polish- Look 1Look 2.

Dabbed on

Applied with the applicator. Just one swipe.

So have you used this Lip Polish or any of the range?
