My Writing Process- Blog Writing Tour.

Hey Everyone!

This post is part of a Blog Writing Tour and I was invited by Mily of Pinkrimage. The idea is very simple, it is a way to get to know fellow bloggers. At the end of this post I will be nominating other bloggers.

About Mily
Well I started following Pinkrimage some time at the start of this year. I loved her blog design and the simplicity of the whole thing. Her posts are down to earth and absolutely to the point. You can see that she puts in a lot of effort with the pictures. We've also done some collaboration posts and its amazing to have a friend in the blogging world. Thank you Mily for nominating me for this.

What am I currently working on:

Posts that that need to go up for this month are top priority. I will be out of town for a few a days so I want to get some posts scheduled for that time. My brain is also constantly processing new posts that I can introduce in September and so I've got a list of that being jotted down every now and then. I am also very seriously contemplating about shifting to Wordpress. My mind sways between the pros and cons every day. It will be a lot of work, and I need to see if I can fit in the time for that.

How does my work differ from the others in this genre?

The main thing I do try to focus on is an entire look. I don't just show a face of the day or an outfit for the day. I try to give you a complete look, so that you will hopefully find some inspiration and ideas for pairing outfit with accessories and the makeup to go with it. I also have posts showing multiple ways to wear one piece of clothing and I intend to do more of that in the future.

Why do I write what I do

Well I actually started this blog to share my style. When I was working as a teacher, I used to wear a sari to work every day, and of course accessorizing for the sari and the makeup was a huge part of the whole look. I also wanted to have blouse designs and pictures of how older women can accessorize their saris. My colleagues were all very well dressed women and they are truly the inspiration behind this blog. However while working, clicking outfit pictures just never happened and the blog just morphed into being a beauty blog with reviews.

Makeup has been a part of my life for a while so it seemed to make sense to write about what I have learnt. The teacher in me just had to share her knowledge. This way I could talk about my love of makeup via my love for writing.

How does your writing process work?

Initially I would write when I felt like and there was no methodology. Then as I started reading more blogs, I got inspired.

In May 2014, I did a series where I did 20 posts in the whole month. That was a lot of work but I truly enjoyed it. I had to use my creative cells so that the readers wouldn't get bored with the monotony. After May, I revamped my way of looking at the blog. If I had to be taken seriously, then I had to take my work seriously.

I started making a note of the products I was testing. I have a checklist and I tick each step at a time- testing, clicking pictures, write content, edit pictures, compile and publish. I usually get inspired with new ideas only when I have to study. So I keep a notebook with me at all times, and write down the ideas as and when it comes. This was my studying doesn't get disturbed and I don't go into the Land of Procrastination.

Yes I am currently studying for the oh-so-feared CSIR UGC NET for LS that is in Dec. I am also doing an  MA Litt through correspondence. I take tuition at home and of course I blog. Occasionally I try out some new recipe and give my mom a  break from cooking.

Writing has always been a part of life. This blog is merely an extension of what I love.

Ok now that you've managed to get through this long post and know me a bit better, lets take a look at  the blogger I have nominated.

I love the name of her blog!! It really makes you stop and stare for a minute. She has some really informative posts up on her blog.

Lakshmipriya Vasudevan of Pretty Polka

I love polka dots. I think they are so pretty and Pretty Polka is a very cute blog! Though just a year old, the blog has really grown and has some lovely reviews and articles.

So girls, you are up next.

I really hope you all enjoyed this post. It was nice to just talk about stuff and not makeup for a change.

Do let me know in the comments. I would love to hear your feedback on my blog.
