Triveni: Tradition with a Twist + Giveaway [CLOSED]

This year has seen me collaborate with quite a few brands and designer boutiques, and what makes me very happy is that all of them have a very desi touch or an indo-western feel to them. This time I am going to be showcasing saris from Triveni Ethnics. With this post I am kick starting a whole bunch of festivities at IshtyleAwhile to celebrate the upcoming festivals and also well the blogiversary is coming soon. So yup, lots of reasons to celebrate.

Lakshmi and I had the opportunity to attend a blogger's meet and interact with Arvind and Shalini (a designer at Triveni).

What I loved about the meet was that they didn't merely talk about their saris and kurtis, they had brought a whole bunch of saris was us to see, touch, feel and even try on. To talk about a brand and what they stand for is not possible if you do experience it firsthand. We got to feel the materials they commonly use and even talk to them about their process. The best part would definitely be the fact they offer affordable saris and lehangas. And when I say affordable, I mean really affordable. The saris that we are styling fall in a range of 800-1500INR each.

Lakshmi and I picked up a sari each to style for you all. I went the traditional way while Lakshmi went a bit more modern.

I love a puff sleeve blouse. I think it is the simplest way to bring a slightly retro vibe to the whole look and very girly. The sari I picked was of the material art silk. Playing with the bright colour combinations of the sari, I paired it with bold accessories and kept my makeup very very simple. Since the sari was really bright I stuck to neutral tones of blush and lipstick. I skipped eyeliner and went with just kajal and mascara. Personally I feel like my face is incomplete without a bindi, so I never miss it. I chose a coloured bindi.

The sari that Lakshmi picked is definitely a very versatile one. We styled it in a less traditional fashion. Instead of a regular blouse she chose a black spaghetti top. The pallu was wrapped in a scarf style around the neck and so we skipped adding a necklace. For accessories, statement earrings in black metal were chosen and a hand full of colourful bangles. Laksmi's sari was more like a half and half with the pallu being predominantly black and the lower half with lines of blues and green.
We added some interest by creating an eyeliner with an arrow head at the end and bright red lipstick.

Both saris were very easy to drape and very fun to work with. Infact during the blogger's meet itself, Triveni's designer, Shalini, draped this same sari in a bengali style on me.

The one thing I would like to mention is that I think a little more attention can be paid to quality checks of the saris. We found small blank spaces on Lakshmi's sari where the print was missing. Maybe it was just this piece.

Overall the designs and the quality are good and the pricing is really affordable.
