New Years Eve Outfit Ideas [PICTURE HEAVY]

This year has gone by pretty fast and while I am not really a party person on New Year's Eve, I thought it would be fun to show you some different types of outfits for different types of people.

The Elegant and the Glamorous

This long gown is very red carpet-y. We decided to go for something different from the regular black dresses and opted for this long dress in purple. It has a beautiful sequins detailing to one side and cinches the waist elegantly. We kept the accessories simple with big stud earrings and a simple necklace. Glamorous indeed.

For those of you not into dresses, pants are an option. I chose a long top and paired it with skinny black jeggings. These jeggings are a bit shiny and add to the party feel. I added some long earrings, gold heels and a matching neck piece to complete the look. Incidentally this is the outfit I wore last New Years Eve.

The Cutie Pie and The Casual Chic

Sometimes you just want to keep things casual. Maybe you are just attending a house party with some really close friends.
This short purple dress is great for an indoor party and to show off your shoulders. The halter neck style is perfect for those who don't want to search for accessories to wear. All you need is a pair of earrings and you could choose a cuff.

A non dress option to keep it casual is what I am wearing. A dark blue sweater top with a statement neck piece works great. It is comfortable and cosy in case the party is in a more open space. I chose to wear a headband to keep the hair off my face, but a pony tail or side braid would work great as well. To jazz it up a bit more, I wore heels that have gold and silver on them. Since the rest of my attire is really simple, this adds the bling required.

The Hottie and The Diva

Of course we had to give a black option.

If you are feeling a bit adventurous (also read as capable of) then opt for a crop top. This particular crop top was designed by the model herself and stitched by her friend. It was paired with a high waisted grey skirt and dark blue peep toes. As the crop top has quite a bit of frills, we didn't accessorise it with anything but statement earrings and her gorgeous hair. (P.S Personally I think you need abs that those to be able to pull this off)

I went for the very standard LBD. Okay it isn't so little, maybe just a black dress. This dress was stitched specifically for my birthday by Priniva. I wanted something that was not short and not very young looking (partly designed by me). I love the boat neck and the lace sleeves. It really adds class to the entire look. I cinched it as the waist by throwing on a gold belt and completed the look with gold hoops, good heels and of course red lipstick. I LOVE it!! I think it looks absolutely fantastic.

I have not made any plans for New Years Eve. How about you guys? What are you planning to wear for New Years Eve? Which one of these outfits would you choose to wear for December 31st?

REVIEW: Selling and Buying at SimplySane

What is your biggest complaint when you open your wardrobe in the morning? If sounds something like "I have nothing to wear" or "I have too many clothes", then welcome to the gang. Given the N number of sales that happen in a year, it is really hard to not shop and sometimes, many a time we get carried away and go a bit overboard. We buy anything that looks pretty even if it is a bit small or tight, and even if it isn't really our style. This is how we accumulate SO much in our wardrobes.

Now what if we could sell our unused clothes or the barely used clothes. Not only would we make back some of the money that we spent, but we would also make space in our overflowing wardrobes. Such a win-win, right??

This is where Simply Sane, started by Runjhun, steps in.  It started as a Facebook community where women would post pictures of clothes, accessories, and footwear, and interested buyers could shop for it.

What was sold at the pop up- shop

Then Verified by Simply Sane was introduced. This is a service where the pieces are picked up and scrutinized by the Simply Sane team to make sure that what the buyer gets is in good condition without any wear and tear or too much of fading of colour. They have hawk-like eyes when it comes to checking the quality of the pieces. I kid you not. Once they are convinced that the item is worthy of being sold, they send it to the customer. They also advise the sellers on what would be an ideal pricing for a particular item.

Simply Sane has also set up pop up shops. I have been to both the pop up shops and it is like a garage sale with items are discounted rates. They care of all the logistics. The items are picked up from the seller's house, the Simple Sane team takes care of verifying the condition of the items. The selected ones go on sale and if your stuff gets sold, they transfer the money to you after the pop up shop. There is nothing you need to do except go and check out the pop up shop to buy some more clothes.

In the last pop up shop that they had at Atta Galatta I had given some items for sale. I sold a jacket and I picked up some pretty jewellery.

Now Simply Sane is moving to a bigger platform- their own website- http://simplysane.com/ - which will be up and functional real soon. The website will make it easier to showcase your items for sale and it will even help you price the items based upon usage. For mathematically challenged people like me, that is truly a blessing.

This is still available for sale.

While the idea of buying and selling second hand clothes is nothing new, what I liked about Simply Sane was the efficiency with which the entire set up is run. Be it for the clothes sold on the Fb page or the pop up shops that they organize, as a customer and a seller, I have not faced an issue so far. Kudos to Runjhun and her team.

What is your take on selling your clothes? yay or nay? Let us know in the comments section below.
