I am not an adventurous person, at all! I tend to stick to tested and tried styles and outfits, and I very rarely experiment with styles. My comfort zone has always been ethnic wear and I really struggle with styling western clothes. I have been trying out a lot more western styles with the help of Pinterest. Today's outfit is definitely Pinterest inspired.
The Spring Summer Collection.
I had a chance to check out the latest Spring Summer collection from Wills Lifestyle. Not only that, but we also got style the models and ourselves at the event and check out the entire collection. I loved some of the dresses. There were some lovely pastel colours which is very spring. However I would have liked to see some bright pops of colour for a more summer look. I feel like it was very toned down.
The men's collection also has a lot of colour and a lot of varieties of blues in general. I loved that they had a good selection of linen pants and casual trousers. Perfect for the heat.
I was really surprised that there were absolutely no skirts considering that this was a Spring Summer collection. I would have also liked to see some more printed shorts for the men.
Wills Lifestyle also collaborates with designers every year and this year there were some stunning dresses with flowy silhouettes and asymmetric hemlines by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna, and Ritu Kumar. One of the shirts in menswear that caught my eye was by Rohit Gandhi that had a brilliant pintuck detail in the front. It looked like a very modern dress shirt with toned down frills.
Styling the models.
For the models I went for a casual day time look. I chose a very preppy floral peplum top and teamed it with a relaxed pair of shorts for the girl. For the guy I went for a fun printed shirt and paired with beige trousers.
I styled this cobalt blue top on myself with ankle length pants during the event and then went back to buy it because I loved it so much. The neckline is really what caught my attention in this top from the Wills Clublife range. This is something that is perfect for an evening out.
Keeping to this theme in mind, I styled my friend (who had come along with me for the event)in a cobalt blue shirt and beige pants. So you can see hot just a change of shirt can take the look from day to evening with ease
Skirt from Avirate
Top from Wills Lifestyle
Clutch from Lifestyle
Shoes from Footin.
Earrings from Westside.
I kept the makeup really simple and neutral because there is a LOT of colour in the outfit. I worked with the three primary colours of red, blue and yellow and I really liked how it turned out. Yes Yes I could have gone for a more neutral set of accessories but there was a reason behind this choice of clutch and shoes. Stay tuned for a very special post coming up next and you will understand why.
I can think of atleast 2 other ways to accessorize this blue top and yellow skirt combination and I am planning on doing another post showing different ways to accessorise it. Would you be interested to see that? Let me know in the comments section below. Also let me know what ways you think I can accessorise this and I will try to incorporate that as well when I do the styling post with it.
