Go crazy and colour the world with Colourpop
Colourpop Colourpop Colourpop. The entire world is going crazy with Colourpop cosmetics. Sure, I may be one of the last people to do a review on it, but hello, as a blogger it is my duty to tell you when I love a product. Yes. Love. There is no two ways about it. Colourpop cosmetics is one of the best things that has happened to the makeup world. Affordable, cruelty free and a top notch formula that leaves you wanting more. Lets not forget the wiiiiiide range of shades.
Now picking up Colourpop products in India is a bit of a pain because they don't ship to India directly. However there are a number of Instagram stores that bring these in and sell them. The average cost of a Colourpop lip product is about 5-6USD which translates to about 400INRor so. The Instagram shops sell these same products at about 650-800INR. Yup a good 300INR more, but personally I don't mind because I think that if I had to get someone to ship them for me from the US, the customs and shipping would make the cost of the lip product go up. Also if you are alert, then all of these Instashops have some sale going on. One more thing, given the quality of the product, I think 750INR is absolutely worth it. Of course, the other option would be to wait till someone comes from the US and then ask them to bring a Colourpop haul for you, but that that is just too much of a hassle.
I decided to go ahead and pick up some Colourpop products from a number of Instagram shops so that I could also tell you which ones I have had the best experience with.
Colourpop UltraMatte Lip in Tulle.
Picked up from- @NowandWowChennai
This was the very first product that I picked up from Colourpop along with 2 eyeshadows. At the point where I picked it up there was some discount going on so I think I got it for like 650 or 680INR. The service was pretty quick and I got the products within a week of making the payment.
About the product.
It was love at first sight. I swiped on my lips and I completely fell in love with the colour. I was really worried how it would look on me and whether it would wash me out or be too dark and ashy. Colourpop describes Tulle as a dusty mauve burgandy. I think on my lips it looks more brown than burgandy and you can see that only in person. It is so hard to photograph and get the right colour on camera. It looks more peachy brown in the pictures.
The formula dries matte. Completely matte and is absolutely transfer proof once it has dried. That has got to be my favourite reason to wear this colour. However since it is matte it definitely does settle in the lines a bit and if you have super dry lips it could look uneven. It is uber pigmented and you really do need only one swipe to get some beautiful colour on your lips. The applicator is easy to use and applies the colour smoothly.
The colour is really long lasting and does not fade that easily with meals or beverages. It stays put for a good 6-7 hours, maybe even more. It does make your lips feel more dry over time and somehow I feel like the colour actually gets a bit darker with time (that could be just my eyes). I like to dab some vaseline on it to keep it hydrated. The longer you keep it and the more you eat, you can see it slowly flaking off from the centre of the lips, which some people may not like. A very effective makeup remover is needed to remove it completely. Despite how drying it can get, I haven't found it to be uncomfortable and this has become one of my favourite lip products in the past few weeks.
Colourpop UltraSatin in The Rabbit
Picked up from @shopyouraddiction
Priced at 800INR
About the Product.
After the success of Ultramatte, I decided to try the Ultra Satins so that I could give you all a good comparison review. Like the name suggests this has a satin finish and is shiny. The Rabbit is described as a bright fuschia with a subtle blue sheen on the Colourpop website, and boy, they are bang on! You can see in the pictures how there seems to be a bluish purple type of a double colour sheen that is seen. It is just gorgeous.
I admit that this colour is slightly brighter than I expected it, even though I did check swatches online.(Did you know that the Colourpop website has swatches of all their lip colours on different skintones. Such a lovely idea, right? It makes shopping online much easier)
This is NOT transferproof and I left pink coloured lip stains all over my tea mug and even managed to smudge some across my face (clumsy me). However once the top layer has either stuck to your mug or your fingers, it settles into a gorgeous pink stain that stays on even longer than the UltraMatte. I think it would make some sense to just dab off the excess and make it a stain rather than let it smudge every where (I am actually thinking of this idea only as I type it. I should probably do this the next time I wear it).I don't reach out for The Rabbit as often as Tulle because I don't think it is a colour that is appropriate for every occasion. The colour definitely brightens my entire face and is one of those colours that I think leave a person feeling more confident after wearing it. It is like it says- "This is me. Deal with it."
Definitely not as drying as the UltraMatte ones and definitely is more easy to wear on the lips.
Okay so this was one long rambly post. So maybe lets just quickly summarise it.
