Makeup for work inspired by India Couture Week 2016

Makeup for work

It has been forever since I did a makeup look on the blog and well a reader had a request for me to do a simple look for work. I was hunting around for inspiration when I stumbled upon this look done by MAC for Rahul Mishra at India Couture Week 2016. Like OMG, how gorgeous is this look. So simple and put together for work. Absolutely neutral colours that can be pulled off by any skin tone.

Inspired by Indian Couture Week- Rahul Mishra

Here is my interpretation of it.

So for my base, I started prepping by spraying the MAC Prep and Prime Fix + to help settled the skin and then I used the only foundation I own- MAC Studiofix fluid in NC 44. I covered my under eye circles with a combination of MAC Studiofinish concealer in NW 35 and L'Oreal True Match concealer in N6-8. Before setting this with the Colorbar compact in 003, I did the contouring. I used the NARS conturing stick in Rapa Nui and blended it out using the Elizabeth Arden Bronzing powder in Golden. To the apples of the cheeks I added Colourpop's blush in Flush'd for a bit of a peachy glow. To add more of a highlight I used the Lakme 9-5 Insta Light cream on the high points of my cheek and the bridge of my nose.

For my eyeshadow, I used a single wash of same Colorpop blush. I lined my waterline using MAC technakohl liner in Brownborder and smudged it out. I layered a rose pink eye shadow from the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette and used a lighter shimmery shade to highlight my eyebrows. The Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo in grey was used to fill and define my brows. The eye makeup was completed with 2 coats of mascara. I chose the Colorbar Lash Illusion Mascara Duo which has a lengthening end and a volumizing end so that I could get the lashes well spaced out and with volume.

I finished the look with my favourite lipstick- Maybelline Colorshow in Choco latte which is the perfect MLBB for me.

So I know that a lot of the products that I have used are not easily available or not affordable. Here are some more affordable and easily available alternatives.

1. MAC Prep and Prime Fix+ can be replaced with a primer such as Nivea After Shave Balm (I am sure that you all must have read about how a mens aftershave can work as a primer. If you haven't head over to Neha's blog and see what she has to say about it.)

2. MAC foundation and concealer can be replaced with a simple BB cream or CC cream. My personal favourite is the Maybelline Clearglow stick.

3. Colourpop blush in Flush'd can be replaced by the Maybelline Cheeky Glow blush in Fresh Coral should work just as well.

4. Elizabeth Arden Bronzer can be easily replaced by the Lakme Blush in Honey Bunch. In fact I would have preferred that except that the one that I had was expired and I had to throw it.

5. NARS Rapa Nui is not needed at all. Any matte dark brown eyeshadow can used as a contour product. Also I believe that NYX has a contour product available in India. So you could check that if you want it.

6. The pink shade from Coastal Scents is similar to the pink in the Lakme Quad Desert Rose.

7. The highlight shade from Coastal Scents can be replaced by the shades in the Faces Eyeshadow Trio in Chocolate.

8. No worries if you don't have the MAC technokohl, the L'Oreal Color Riche kohl in Pure Espresso works just as well.

There you go, as many drugstore alternatives as possible.

This is the complete look. What do you think? Am I close enough? I really want to know if you think I did justice to it in the comments section below.
